Ethical Eats is a restaurant rating system project pioneered by UC Berkeley’s ASUC Sustainability Team! Motivated by the dire state of the environment, our team comprised of UC Berkeley undergraduates, set out to develop an educational program in hopes of opening up dialogue about sustainable eating. Currently, the agriculture industry accounts for 8% of greenhouse gas emissions in California while food waste contributes to 6.7% of global greenhouse gas emissions. This is why now, more than ever, it is essential to educate people about how to eat out sustainably. This semester will consist of analysis of data collected from restaurants, and subsequently guiding these businesses on how they can improve their sustainability efforts.
